Low Crime Rate

Cyprus enjoys a very low crime rate in comparison with other competitive Mediterranean countries such as Spain, Portugal, Italy and France. Cyprus crime rate is only one tenth of the average rate of the other European countries (6% of United Kingdom). One will find that in residential areas, people rarely lock their cars, many times leave houses, windows or even doors open. This is all due to friendliness and honesty of the local population and the reason people return year after year.

So why are so many people coming to Northern Cyprus?

• The country is scenically stunning ranging from the sand dunes of the Karpaz 'Pan Handle' to the impressive Kyrenia mountain range.

• The weather is outstanding with over 320 day's sunshine a year, a sea temperature that hardly ever drops below 16°C and Spring arriving in February, a good antidote to the British winter!

• The people are incredibly friendly, and due to the legacies of the British colonial era, English is widely spoken, even in the remotest areas. They even drive on the left, which makes living in Northern Cyprus even easier.

• The food is fantastic, watersports available almost all year round, and the island steeped in thousands of years of history from the Persian and Byzantines to the Romans and Venetians.
